THE SHIVAS (pdx)
The Shivas are a rock and roll band from Portland, Oregon formed in 2006. With mountains of reverb and walls of feedback they have since rolled their swirling dance party throughout many countries around the world. The Shivas have released 5 LPs, a 7” EP and various short run cassettes. They have been featured at festivals such as SXSW, Austin Psych Fest and Levitation Vancouver (BC Canada), as well as having toured or appeared with the likes of The Dandy Warhols, Spiritualized and La Luz.

Their most recent release is February 2016’s long player “Better Off Dead” (K Records LP/CD, Burger Records CASS), recorded at Dub Narcotic Studio in Olympia. Washington with engineer Calvin Johnson. Shortly thereafter comes the release, this May, of their new 7" (out on Casino Trash Records - Seattle, WA), a head banging preview of the new material that is to come on their next LP. The Shivas will be spending spring and summer 2016 on tour across North America and Europe. https://theshivas.bandcamp.com/track/whatever-2

DOMINANT LEGS

Dominant Legs in 2008. According to Lynch, the project's name means "sexy legs" and came about while he was skinny dipping in Newport Beach. He used the term to describe the legs of Corey Cunningham of the band Terry Malts. Lynch released a pair of demo tracks late in 2009 and was named a "band to watch" by Stereogum. Once a part of local acts like Girls and Magic Bullets, Lynch says Dominant Legs is now a solo effort, and he's currently working on music for a new album, which he hopes to put out soon.

EMOTIONAL
Emotional is the spiritual manifestation of songwriter, singer, director, and Death Records founder Brian Wakefield. Wakefield, a San Jose native, has been a humble mainstay in the San Francisco music community since the early ‘00s, working with various bands, most notably the “dream pop quartet” Melted Toys. Wakefield has also served as a sideman in many local projects. Emotional was initially embarked upon as an experimental side pop project to Melted Toys—it now serves as the signature vessel for Wakefield’s personal songwriting. https://emotional.bandcamp.com/track/believe-in-me

BURNT PALMS
Northern California's BURNT PALMS make a triumphant return to SF POPFEST after quite some time with their fuzzed out, toe tapping pop songs. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xYPYfq_L2Wg&feature=youtu.be

A CERTAIN SMILE (pdx)

Raised on a steady diet of sarah records singles, slumberland noise pop, and creation era shoegaze, Portland's a certain smile work hard to find that balance between the sweet twee, the fuzzy gaze, and punky pop. Having spent years bubbling over in Philadelphia, a certain smile has taken to it's new Pacific Northwest home with aplomb.

THE VERY MOST (boise)
The Very Most has been playing catchy pop music for longer than your niece or nephew have been alive, probably. That pop music has been played using a lot of different objects, including ukuleles, synths, guitars, toy pianos, sleigh bells, and vocal cords. The current live incarnation consists solely of the band's leader, Jeremy Jensen, switching back and forth between synth-based indiepop and electric 12-string strumming and singing. The Very Most have played NYC Popfest, the UK's Indietracks, and more than their fair share of living rooms.

HORRIBLE / ADORABLE

Once upon a time, Candice and Kiki met at a bbq in West Oakland. With an instant spark (well, a sparkle, really!), they became fast friends. They talked all evening over the piss and beer cans about how they would form a band called 'Horrible/Adorable.' Candice, a new drummer, was a big ball of energy. Kiki, shy as a mouse, had never sang in front of anyone. Horrible/Adorable had their first practice a little over three years ago and have been best band mates/friends ever since. Their demo, 'Amy Understands', topped the local charts as they played shows all over Oakland and San Francisco. They're expecting their first 7" vinyl record 'Lookin' Healthy!' in the fall!

AVALEYA AND THE GLITTER HAWKS

A bi-State collaboration ensued in June 2015 with Avaleya in Mosier, OR and Jim in Sacramento, CA.They recruited Verna Brock to play bass and together recorded a 5 song EP called Glitter Feather which they took on the road playing a few shows in California in September 2015. Darla Records digitally released the Glitter Feather EP on Jan 15. The band completed a tour of the North West in February 2016 and plans to release a single later this Spring and their debut LP by 2017. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KSyXm6bmk_s&feature=youtu.be
